Biodiversity and Forestry Management

OBJECTIVE

To ensure the advancement in forestry sector by conservation and development of forest area to achieve sustainable forest management objective for the conservation of environmental stability.

FUNCTION

Implementation of sustainable forest management in ensuring sufficient timber resources and conservation of environmental stability.

Research and development in forestry sectors and forest produce in effort of optimizing and varied the resources use.

To upgrade the forest management based on the Malaysian Criteria and Indicator or MC&I according to national policy and strategy.

To ensure and upgrade the role of the sector according to national and international forestry and environmental objective as agreed in international forums.

Sustainable Forest Management

To formulate and develop a pragmatic, liberal and balanced policy and regulation to create the best environment in achieving sustainable forest management and development of national forestry sector.

To evaluate and revised the policies and strategy for every six (6) month in achieving the sustainable forest management objective.

Forestry Agency

To provide a clear and practical guide and instruction in the implementation of policy and strategy of forestry management to JPSM and FRIM.

Research and Development

To assess the success of policy and strategy of R&D especially in the up-stream sector.

International Relation/Organization

Continuous participation in international forum/ conference/ organization.

To arrange conference preparation in one (1) week.

To prepare the conferences report in two (2) week.

To develop follow up action plan in one (1) month.

Preparation of National Meeting

Preparation of Cabinet Paper for the revision and approval and of the top management in two (2) week.

Provide the feedback on Cabinet’s Memorandum for other agencies one (1) week.

Formulate and prepare the paper on policies in one (1) month.

Provide the feedback on Cabinet’s paper in two (2) week.
