OBJECTIVE
| To provide legal advisory services efficiently, fair and impartial to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, departments and agencies of the NRE in accordance to the provisions of the Federal Constitution, constitution of the States as other laws, Government policies and public interest. |
FUNCTION
|
|
To act on behalf of the Attoeney General Chambers and its Functions at the NRE/Department level by giving legal advise and opinion (writing or verbal) by virtue of Article 145 of the Federal Constitution. |
|
|
To advise on the interpretation of laws, terms of contracts/agreement/memorandum of understanding and other legal documents under the jurisdiction of the NRE. |
|
|
To draft, revise and vet the laws and legal documents such as notices/ contracts/agreements/memorandum of understanding where it includes the Goverment (NRE) as one of the parties in order to protect the interests of the Goverment. |
|
|
To involve in drafting matters of the Principal Legislations and Subsidiary Legislations such as drafting the new laws, repelling any of the irrelevent or outdated laws or amending the existing laws under NRE. |
|
|
To acts as the medium between NRE/Department and Civil Division of Attorney General Chambers by giving information in any of the civil litigation by or towards NRE/Department. |
|
|
To conduct law revision on any on the provisions of laws including in the Principal and Subsidiary Legislations under NRE/Department. |
|
|
To attend meetings and advise on laws relating to decisions made to ensure it is made in accordance with the law. |
|
|
To attend parliament when it is in session to assist in legal issues when needed |
