Petaling Jaya, 6 Jun – Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ”MAS Voluntary Carbon Offset Scheme” with the launching of carbon balance programme organized by the ministry. This Mou is sealed by Director of Safety, Health and Corporate Affairs, Kapten Dr. Ooi Teng Siew on behalf of MAS while NRE is represented by the ministry’s Secretary General, Datuk Mohd Suboh Yassin. Datuk Maznah Mazlan, Deputy Minister of NRE dan MAS Managing Director, Dato’ Sri Idris Jala bear witness to this show of commitment between the two parties. MAS, with two of its subsidiaries, Firefly dan MASwings are implementing programmes in regards to carbon dioxide release to the environment by establishing funds managed by Forest Reasearch Institute of Malaysia (FRIM).
